This morning was my first bike ride in the snow EVER and I have to say all the worrying was a waste of energy. I kept having ludicrous daymares/nightmares of sliding into the freezing cold lake from the bike path and other sorts of insanity. To the contrary I felt extremely in control and never fell or even slid. I was worried about being amongst the cars on the slippery road, but they were beyond courteous (giving me more room than they ever did on the snow-less streets).
It felt like other winter riders were welcoming me into this exclusive club. In the spring/summer/fall every so often some friendly person would greet me with a "hello" or "good morning" for sure, but this morning EVERY single person biking greeted me in some way. There was this odd sense of community amongst the bikers and I liked being apart of it.
This is going to be a great winter!
