I want to say we were lucky this year that winter decided to come so late (I was riding my Azor up until Christmas for gosh sakes!!!), but I believe the warmer and warmer weather is a sign of our weakening global climate and that saddens me. As a year-round cyclist, Vegan, and generally living eco-friendly and economically, I feel like I am (at the very least) doing the best I can to contribute to a healthy earth. I digress....
Winter cycling has been super fun, beautiful, and equally challenging this year. Having a year under my belt makes me feel less anxious and more prepared. I am attune to my limits, when to take public transportation, how my bike reacts to the various surfaces of winter, etc. I am trying to take winter cycling one day at a time and not be too hard on myself when I choose public transportation over weathering the elements. I am also trying to enjoy the magic of winter, the air, the soft light, and the sparkle.
Happy cycling!
